【The Geometry of GOLF】 6. Club Length and Distance between ball and body
The distance between the ball and the body of a player with the same height and hand length is roughly determined by the length of the club. The relationship is as follows. ⊿ Distance between ball and body = (⊿ Club Length) / cos (Lie angle) For example, when the lie angle is 60 degrees, and if the length of the club is increased by 1 inch (2.54 cm), deviation of the distance between the body and the ball is twice of deviation of the length of the club, that is, 2 inches. The length differences between the iron set is about 0.5 inches, so at a iron and a next number of iron, the distance between the body and the ball will change by about 1 inch.
